Recycling and the Environment
Recycling helps our environment. Licensed facilities contribute to the recycling effort and properly dispose of hazardous materials and fluids. When buying used parts from salvaged vehicles, or by selling your vehicle to a licensed auto wrecker recycler, you are helping our environment.
What is Mechanical Breakdown Insurance?
There are many types of optional car insurance that people can buy. Many people are aware that collision insurance coverage and comprehensive insurance coverage exist, but what is mechanical breakdown coverage? Mechanical breakdown car insurance covers expenses that are not caused by an accident.
While car repairs can be expensive and do not occur often, this type of auto coverage can provide significant benefits to you. There are also a few things to make note of on the less positive side of things. People often wonder what the pros and cons are, and how this insurance coverage differs from an extended car warranty.
Major breakdown failures that occur with cars are often not covered in a basic car insurance plan. From electrical system failure to bad brakes, there are a number of things that can happen due to wear and tear, because of potholes, and more. When a covered situation happens and you need to go to the shop, just file a claim, and the company reimburses you for the repairs. Not every driver qualifies, and not every car insurance company sells this type of car insurance coverage. A few of the companies that do include USAA, Progressive, and Liberty Mutual.
Extended warranties and MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) are very similar, but an extended warranty is often more expensive and makes you pay for the coverage up front. Also, an extended warranty limits you to using specific types of mechanics or garages. Extended warranties do tend to have smaller deductibles though.
Is it worth it? Well, there are multiple variables here. You do get peace of mind, but if your vehicle does not have a breakdown that costs more than you spend on the plan, maybe not. Since many covered repairs are quite expensive, the age of your car, as well as the model, can give you more information. If your vehicle is more likely to break down due to either of these things, it can definitely be worth it.
